Safeguarding at St Mary's

Safeguarding at St Mary's CE Primary School

At St Mary's, the safeguarding of all children is of the highest priority and is everyone's responsibility.

People in schools are uniquely placed to notice signs and symptoms of abuse, and to support children subject to abuse and living in abusive situations.

If you have a concern about any child who is a pupil at St Mary's, please telephone the school (0208 3430866) and ask to speak to one of the designated safeguarding officers. Your concern will be treated with the upmost importance.

The designated safeguarding officers for 2018-19 are:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead

Mrs Katy Hinson - Deputy Head Teacher

  • Safeguarding Deputies

Mr Stefan Roos - Headteacher

Mrs Johnston- SENCo

Mrs Malyali - Family Liaison Office

Safeguarding Governor

Claire Turner

Whilst the school will always try to work in partnership with parents and careers and keep them fully informed of any action concerning their child, the welfare of the child is always our most important consideration. It is our legal duty to report any child protection concerns to the relevant agencies. We will always act in a way which will ensure the child is kept safe. There is a link to our Safeguarding policy at the end of this page.

We take the appointment of all new staff seriously and we follow ‘Safer Recruitment’ best practice guidelines. All our staff and volunteers are DBS checked.

E-safety

The responsible and safe use of technology is an important life-skill, which all children need to learn. Children at St Mary’s learn this as part of the computing curriculum which has been specifically designed to be both age-appropriate and progressive and prepare children for life outside of school.
