Pupils at St Mary’s are encouraged to explore a range of techniques, skills and processes through using a wide range of media. These techniques, skills and processes include drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, printing and textiles. Pupils explore and become inspired to recreate and evaluate a range of techniques and styles adopted by a variety of artists throughout history.
In addition to learning and practising artistic techniques and skills, pupil individualism and creativity is highly promoted and celebrated. A good example of this is our St Mary’s gallery, which is updated every half term. One pupil per year group is chosen to have their work displayed in the St Mary’s gallery for all to see - celebrating a piece of work that they have worked particularly hard on, and of which have demonstrated a particular skill effectively.
