I am Chair of Governors, having first been appointed as a governor in 2008. I have been appointed by the London Borough of Barnet.

I am a Reader at St Mary-at-Finchley, one of the sponsoring churches for the School, and became interested in serving on the Governing Body as a result of the links between the School and the church.

As a Christian, a magistrate and a retired commercial solicitor, I hope I can bring my experience of participating and chairing boards and committees, together with my knowledge of good governance and Christian ways of working, to benefit the School.

It is a great privilege to work with a head teacher and board of governors who are Christian and committed to doing the best for the children and staff at the School.

I can be contacted via the school office, chair@stmarysn3.barnetmail.net

I have been head teacher and a governor at St Mary’s since September 2015. I first became a head teacher in 2008 and regard it as my calling to work with children and their families in this capacity. I have taught in Church of England schools in London since I have started my teaching career and as a practising Christian, I greatly value the opportunity this brings to express our faith freely as a school community. I also value the firm foundation provided by the ethos of such schools, not only in enabling us to teach the curriculum form our Christian perspective, but also to teach children about the love of God.

I believe that all of us have equal worth, and will therefore always do my best to ensure that all the children in our school have the best opportunities possible to achieve their full potential.

I am privileged to work in such a wonderful school, where the hard work and support of all stakeholders in the school community have such a positive impact on what we achieve together.

I have been a governor at St Mary's since September 2008 when I became Rector of St Mary-at-Finchley and ex officio Foundation Governor.  Both my children have attended St Mary's in recent years so I have experienced the school as a parent too. I visit the school regularly and lead acts of Collective Worship.

Before I moved to Finchley I was for a number of years Vice Chair of Governors for the local Community Primary School. Prior to ordination I worked in local government as a systems analyst. I believe education is a vital part of the Church’s mission.

Specialist Teaching Assistant

I have been a Governor at St Mary’s School since July 2004, representing staff.

I joined St Mary’s as a voluntary parent helper in the reception class, whilst my two children were at the school. I did this for three years prior to becoming a Teaching Assistant, which I have been for over nine years. I am currently based in Year Two where I support the classes.

Vicar of St Paul’s Finchley, one of the school’s two sponsoring Anglican parishes, I have been an ex-officio Foundation Governor since 2003. Prior to ordination I was a teacher for eight years, four years of which were as a member of a school’s Senior Leadership Team. As both a Governor and parent, I have a particular interest in developing the school’s Christian ethos and commending the added value of education in a church school.

I am delighted to join the board of governors in 2014.  I have two sons at St Mary's and am proud to take on a parent governor role at this wonderful school.

I currently sit on the senior management team of a Further Education college.  Prior to this I had a specialist role that involved consulting and supporting secondary schools to think through and implement their 14- 19 year old curriculum strategies.

I will bring my management experience and passion for learning to the role

I was appointed as a governor of St Mary's in July 2014.  As a parent of children at the school, and as a Christian, I consider it a real privilege to serve the school in this way, and to help develop its work and vision.

My fellow governors nominated me to be the link governor for special educational needs. I am passionate about inclusion and ensuring quality teaching for children who have special educational needs. To this role I bring my professional experience as a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist in mainstream primary schools.

My family and I are committed, active members of our church, All Souls Langham Place in central London.  We are delighted to be involved in a school which embraces and promotes Christian values.

I am indeed privileged to be appointed a Foundation Governor of St Mary’s School by the PCC  of St Mary’s Church, one of the sponsoring churches for the School and more so, as I have a child currently at the school as well.

I believe that the “excellence of education” at St Mary’s is driven by the dedication and passion of both management and staff to develop and mould young lives.

During my tenure, it is my fervent hope to be able to contribute to the continuing success of the school, by giving each and every child passing through our doors, the tools and opportunity to develop into the leaders and advocates of tomorrow.
