Music, as an art form, is a universally understood form of communication and is an inherent part of every culture as an individual and corporate means of expression. It offers children the opportunity to develop their aesthetic awareness, understanding and appreciation of the world around them. They develop the skills of listening, composing and performing and are encouraged to be creative and imaginative in their thinking.
The Borough Individual Instrumental Teaching Scheme provides children, in Key Stage 2, with the opportunity to learn an instrument. Additionally children have the opportunity to sing in the choir and join the string or woodwind groups. Guitar lessons are offered although numbers are limited.
